EF-630 electronic flash unit
The SIGMA EF-630 electronic flash unit is a multifunctional clip-on flash that offers greater light output and is designed for current digital cameras. The many features of this flash unit include TTL automatic exposure as standard as well as high-speed synchronization, synchronization to the second shutter curtain and a wireless flash function. Furthermore, the auto-zoom function, the indirect flash option and a reflector foil on the EF-630 are perfect for a wide variety of photography. The display on the back offers an intuitive user interface for quick and easy operation.
Equipped with the latest TTL automatic flash exposure systems
The EF-630 is designed for the latest TTL automatic exposure systems of most digital SLR cameras from well-known manufacturers, so that automatic TTL exposure control is also possible for indirect flash photography in conjunction with a diffuser or reflector.
Intuitive user interface for easy operation The new dot matrix LC display ensures improved readability of the menu functions.
In addition, a D-pad and a control dial on the side of the flash unit make operation easier than ever. An intuitive user interface improves compatibility between the EF-630 flash unit and the SIGMA sd-Quattro series. The flash unit can be released with a simple press of the locking lever on the hot shoe. In addition, user-friendliness is enhanced by a flash sync terminal and a warning tone when the flash is fully charged.
Indirect flash due to swivelling flash head.
The flash head of the EF-630 can be tilted upwards by up to 90° and rotated left and right by up to 180°. The option of indirect flash via a white wall or ceiling or a reflector considerably expands the photographic design options. In addition, the flash head can be tilted downwards by 7° for close-ups.
WirelessTTL flash function
With the wireless TTL flash function, the desired flash exposure is automatically adjusted, even if the EF-630 is not attached to the camera. Remote control operation is also possible between the camera and the flash. If several flash units are used, the camera calculates the correct exposure automatically.
Modelling flash for checking reflections and shadows
The EF-630 offers a modelling flash that allows the photographer to check their subject for reflections and shadows before taking the picture.
Flash synchronization on the second shutter curtain for natural reproduction of movements
When photographing a moving subject, flash synchronization on the second shutter curtain triggers the flash immediately before the second shutter curtain is closed. In contrast to synchronization to the first shutter curtain, the motion blur is behind the moving object and not in front of it. This results in a more natural reproduction of the movement.
Illumination angle
SIGMA has extended the flash illumination angle so that Lens with a focal length of 24mm to 200mm are compatible. If the integrated wide-angle diffusion screen is used, the flash even achieves coverage of a 17mm Lens.
Reflector foil
The flash unit is equipped with an integrated reflector foil, which can brighten the eyes, for example, when indirectly flashing portraits.
Slave flash function
The slave flash function enables the flash unit to be triggered independently of the camera using a master unit. With the "wireless triggering of individual flash units" function, the photographer can even use several EF-630 flash units at the same time. It is possible to assign different channels to the flash units. As the EF-630 is equipped with this function, it can be used with all camera models. In normal slave mode, the camera's built-in flash or another flash unit can be used as the master (the flash exposure must then be set manually).
FP high-speed sync for fast shutter speeds.
The flash sync speed is normally limited to the shortest duration of a full shutter opening of focal plane shutters, which restricts the use of a flash at fast shutter speeds. FP high-speed sync, however, makes flash photography possible even at shutter speeds below the normal sync speed. For example, if the aperture is wide open for a shallow depth of field when shooting with flash during the day, flash can be used at any of the fast shutter speeds required here to brighten the scene.
* This function is not available on some camera models.
AF-assist illuminator for precise autofocus in low light conditions.
In dark environments, the AF sometimes does not work as desired. However, the AF-assist illuminator of the EF-630 allows you to control the autofocus even in situations where focusing would otherwise be problematic.
* The AF-assist illuminator is not available on some camera models.
Manual flash mode
The flash output of the EF-630 can be set manually from 1/1 to 1/128 according to the photographer's requirements.
Auto power off prevents unnecessary power consumption
To extend battery life, the EF-630 switches off automatically after a certain period of inactivity.
