  • Hoya Variable Density Version II
  • ND filter
  • has a neutral density range from ND3 (1.5 f-stop) to ND400 (8+ f-stop)
  • can be easily adjusted to the desired density by turning the front ring
  • high quality optical glass

The HOYA Variable Density Filter 3-400 has a neutral density range from ND3 (1.5 f-stop) to ND400 (8+ f-stop), which can be easily adjusted to the desired density by turning the front ring.
The HOYA Variable Density Filters use high-quality optical glass from HOYA. ND (Neutral Density) filters appear grey and reduce the amount of light reaching the sensor film without affecting the color balance.

Main areas of application:
enable slow shutter speeds to show movement in the image by blurring, e.g. waterfalls and streams, fountains, clouds or moving cars.allow larger apertures for shallower depth of field, which helps to clearly distinguish a subject, e.g. a portrait, from its background.act as if the film speed has been reduced accordingly, so that even highly sensitive films (i.e. above ISO 400 27°) can be used.this enables film and video cameras with non-adjustable shutter speeds to take correct pictures even in bright surroundings such as snow and sandy beaches or in extremely bright light, while otherwise overexposure occurs.

For best results, HOYA recommends using a tripod when taking pictures with long exposure times.
